I've decided to move this blog from blogger to wordpress. I liked this page, but I really like the new page. Come see it: Deb's House Concerts.

Okay, I'm trying out Wordpress.com.

Here's the new blog:
DHConcerts.wordpress.com

It looks like it has a lot of good features. Let me know how you like it. (I only have one entry there so far, so there's not yet much to see.)

My friend Beth tells me
WordPress is an excellent blogging tool. Her Myeloma Blog looks good. I'll have to check it out. If I move to another location, I'll post a link at the top of this site to get you to the new location.

Elvis and Princess Di

I have had a VERY HAPPY couple of hours learning how to upload mp3s of my songs, and uploading these three. I'm so pleased! :) I hope you enjoy them, too!

Here's some advice from
Elvis and Princess Di c.2006 Deborah L. Hord for living courageously ... written the week of Princess Di's death in 1997.

Gotta Let It Go

Turn on the speakers, and hear the best I have for now. I'll eventually have some better recordings of these songs.

Sometimes I write to get me through the difficult times. This one is called
Gotta Let It Go c.2006 Deborah L. Hord.

Here's my first ever mp3 upload. I'm learning.

The sound quality is not as good as I'd like, because this is a home recording. But, I'm eager to make a few songs available.

This is the (humorous) story of a couple that drives an 18-wheeler hauling hazardous waste.

Here's the bio I just put on www.Technorati.com :

Songwriter who sings and plays guitar. Originally from NC. In Tulsa, OK almost seven years. 'Folk' is the closest music category I can claim. If you like original acoustic music, contact me to discuss having a 'house concert'.

I just 'claimed my blog' with Technorati. It's a cool search engine for web logs.

You can look for blog listings on any subject, or you can look for blogs by name. I'm hoping that being listed with Technorati will bring me more visitors who are interested in original, acoustic music.

As you can see, my 'rank' is wayyyyyy low right now with 0 links from 0 sites. Yikes! If you like my site, please leave a comment or link to me.

Think of the comments box as a 'guest book'. :)

Thanks!

This looks like a cool site. It's called Concerts In Your Home, and it lists hosts and artists by name and location.

I'd love to see some Oklahoma people on the list as hosts. But, you can contact me directly, too.

The muse has been a bit hyperactive lately, and I've written about 15 new songs in the past couple of months. I'm currently looking for places to share these bits of new life.

Yesterday, I sang a few songs between sets performed by
Timbrewolf and his band "The People's Glorious Five Year Plan". I'll probably be joining them for a few of their shows this summer in and around Tulsa, Oklahoma. They are a 5-piece band with harmonies, guitars, African drums, an accordion, and a mix of politics and humor, all served with a dose of high energy. Make a plan to hear them soon! :)

My music is a bit more mellow than
pg5yp, even when it's loud. The lyrics come from life experience, observation and imagination. As with many writers, the hard times seem to inspire more songs than the easy times. But, I write funny songs and happy songs, too. I'm doing my best to bring you a variety of songs you'll find yourself singing later. Happy songs. Sad songs. Funny songs. Love songs. Songs about injustice. And, I love a good story.

If you like acoustic music that falls somewhere in the 'folk music' and 'singer/songwriter' category, I hope you'll stop by for one of the shows. Or, even better, invite your friends over for a party and host a house concert.

By the way, thanks for stopping by
Deb's House Concerts.
